The Bay Area is experiencing unprecedented disruption of everyday services and employment. At the law offices of Richard A. Gutstadt, we are in touch with our clients – and prospective clients – via phone (510-451-8370) and email ([email protected]).
We continue to file appeals and participate in the hearing process.
As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, Social Security continues to hold hearings, but only by phone. Judges are calling from their homes to claimants, representatives, and witnesses, who all appear simultaneously. Claimants must agree to have their hearing by phone, and my office conducts most hearings by phone.
Similarly, Social Security Field Offices are not open for claimant visits, but they are also operating by phone. Because we have local phone numbers, we can contact Field Offices, although they are very busy. We can fax local Field Offices and Payment Centers as well.
We are also in touch via email with other attorneys and representatives. Consequently, we are able to stay in the “loop” to receive updates on hearings and procedures.
Judges continue to write decisions for hearings they have already held.
